Domaine Henri Boillot

The History of Domaine Henri Boillot

Domaine Henri Boillot is today recognized as one of the most prestigious in Burgundy. The expertise and craft of winemaking have been passed down through generations since 1885. Henri joined the domaine in 1975, following his father, Jean. He climbed all the ranks and eventually took over the management of the domaine. Then, in 2008, his son Guillaume joined the domaine. A few years later, he became the head of cultivation and took charge of the vinification of red wines.

Viticulture and Vinification : The Estate's Philosophy

For Henri Boillot, vineyard work is the starting point of a great wine. It must be carried out with meticulous precision, respecting the plant's environment as much as possible and limiting inputs. For vinification, Domaine Henri Boillot practices traditional vinification. Here too, the use of inputs is very limited, with the goal being to practice minimal intervention. The ultimate aim is to enhance the expression of each terroir and highlight its quality through the wines.

The Wines of Domaine Henri Boillot

Domaine Henri Boillot produces mostly white wines, spread across the appellations of Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault ; it even has two monopolies : Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère and Meursault 1er Cru Richemont. Regarding red wines, they are situated on the terroirs of Volnay and Pommard, such as Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets and Pommard 1er Cru Clos Blanc. Finally, since 1995, Henri Boillot has established the Maison Henri Boillot trading house, which allows him to vinify several Grands Crus from Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, such as Montrachet Grand Cru and Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru.
