GALEYRAND Jérôme

The History of Domaine Jérôme Galeyrand

Originally from the Loire, Jérôme Galeyrand does not come from a winemaking family. After eight years in the food industry, he discovered the trade through experiences with Alain Burguet in Gevrey-Chambertin and Pascal Roblet in Volnay. In 2002, he acquired his first parcel and made his first vintage. Since then, the domaine has grown to 6 hectares of vines.

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Jérôme Galeyrand now produces wines from several appellations of the Côte de Nuits, including Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, Marsannay and Côte de Nuits-Villages, alongside red and white Bourgognes as well as wines from Dijon. The domaine also runs a négociant business, allowing it to offer other great Burgundian terroirs, including Volnay 1er Cru, Meursault, Vougeot 1er Cru Les Cras and Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.

Viticulture and Vinification: The Domaine's Philosophy

Jérôme Galeyrand's philosophy rests on a respectful approach to living soil and minimal intervention: crafting wines capable of revealing their terroir without altering its nature.

The soils are tilled to preserve their vitality, and treatments are limited to copper, wettable sulfur and natural plant infusions. The domaine was also certified organic for ten years.

Harvesting is done by hand, and winemaking excludes industrial yeasts, fining agents and enzymes, with limited use of sulfites. Traditional aging in Burgundian barrels accompanies the wines, aiming to preserve the integrity of the grape and the expression of each terroir.

The Wines of Domaine Jérôme Galeyrand

The domaine's vineyard is made up of 70% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay and 15% Aligoté, allowing Jérôme Galeyrand to explore different expressions of the Côte de Nuits and Burgundy.

Among the reds are notably Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice, Billard et Croisette, the Fixin Champs de Vosgers and Champs des Charmes, Marsannay Clos du Roy, and Côte de Nuits-Villages Vieilles Vignes.

The white range includes Bourgogne Chardonnay Orane, several Bourgogne Aligoté, Les Blanches, Chaumont et Cran, as well as Bouzeron Clous, Fixin Vignoy and Marsannay Champs Perdrix.

Through this diversity of terroirs, the domaine seeks wines that express purity, depth and parcel-level identity, guided by a philosophy centered on respect for the grape and vinification without artifice.
