Côte de Beaune: the terroir of very Fine White Wines
Located in the heart of the Côte-d'Or, the Côte de Beaune is one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world. It is home to some of the Greatest Wines of Burgundy and internationally renowned white wines, which you will find among our selection of Rare Wines.
The unique terroir of the Côte de Beaune
It is on a strip of land about twenty kilometers long, between Aloxe-Corton in the north and Chassagne Montrachet in the south, that the Côte de Beaune vineyard extends. Its unique terroir produces many great wines such as Corton Charlemagne and Montrachet Grand Cru.
But what makes Côte de Beaune whites so exceptional ? First, it's the clay-limestone soil, whose minerality suits the vine well ; then a continental climate with hot summers, cold winters, and autumn rains. But what truly makes these wines great is above all the expertise of the winemakers.
RP Fine Wines offers a wide selection of Rare Wines from Côte de Beaune’s terroir:
- Wines often produced at the foot of the slopes, the Bourgogne blancs.
- Village and Premier Cru appellations, cultivated on the slopes.
- The Grands Crus, which thrive in the heart of the slopes.
Côte de Beaune whites : wines of remarkable elegance
The white wines of the Côte de Beaune are renowned worldwide for their elegance and extraordinary finesse. Only two white grape varieties are allowed: Aligoté and Chardonnay, but the winemakers know how to bring out the best in them to produce fresh, mineral and exceptional wines:
- Aligoté thrives on limestone soils and produces fresh, delightful white wines. It is generally enjoyed young to better appreciate its spontaneity on the palate. With a pale gold color and a fruity, floral bouquet, it is a wine that has gained prestige over the years, notably thanks to the expertise of certain winemakers.
- Chardonnay, which reigns supreme on the Côte de Beaune. Its golden-hued robe, aromatic intensity, and length on the palate are unparalleled.
We also offer a large selection of mature vintages that will allow you to admire the remarkable aging potential of certain appellations such as the wines from Chassagne and Puligny Montrachet or Meursault.
