Jean-Jacques Confuron

The History of Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron

Rooted in the village of Prémeaux-Prissey, at the gateway to Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron is above all a story of family and transmission. In the 1980s, Sophie, Jean-Jacques daughter, and her husband Alain Meunier took over the estate and gave it a new ambition: to reveal, bottle after bottle, the singularity of the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. Today, their son Louis carries on this legacy with the same exacting standards and a vision firmly focused on the future.

Viticulture and Winemaking: The Estate’s Philosophy

A true pioneer in the region, Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron converted to organic farming as early as 1989, long before it became a trend. Since then, the philosophy has remained unchanged: the vineyards are cultivated with the utmost respect for the soils, with some parcels even ploughed by horse to preserve the microbial life of the earth. In the cellar, the same philosophy applies, allowing the terroir to speak for itself. Harvesting is done by hand, fermentations occur naturally, and oak ageing is carefully balanced so that it never overshadows the fruit and minerality of the wines.

The Wines of Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron

Just eight hectares in size, yet with a reputation that extends far beyond Burgundy. The estate produces around ten cuvées, almost exclusively red wines, from some of the Côte de Nuits most prestigious appellations: Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Clos de Vougeot, and the remarkable Romanée-Saint-Vivant.
