Located in Burgundy, in the Côte de Beaune, the Corton Charlemagne appellation belongs to the Grand Cru family. It produces exclusively white wines made from Chardonnay, on the slopes of Corton Hill. This renowned terroir combines limestone and marl soils, whose structure favours wines that are precise, profound and capable of developing over time.
The style of Corton-Charlemagne is distinguished by its ample texture, structuring freshness and great persistence. Without presupposing the precise characteristics of the 2024 vintage, the appellation is renowned for its balance between richness and tension, with a clear expression of Chardonnay and an architecture that gradually asserts itself in bottle. The Grand Cru classification underlines this wine’s exceptional rank within the Burgundian hierarchy.
This wine is produced by Domaine Henri Boillot, a Burgundy estate associated with a demanding interpretation of the great terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. The estate presents here a white Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from the 2024 vintage, whose identity rests above all on its specific vineyard origin, the Chardonnay grape and the nobility of the appellation.
The 2024 vintage deserves to be considered in terms of its own development, without attributing precise tasting notes that have not been provided. This wine may nevertheless be appreciated for the interpretation it offers of a great white Burgundy, combining depth, freshness and cellaring potential.
Serve this Corton-Charlemagne at a temperature between 12 and 14 °C, allowing it to open for a few moments in the glass if desired. A generous white wine glass will better support its development and length.
At the table, its structure suits fine fish, crustaceans and shellfish prepared with restraint. It will also pair well with roast poultry, mushroom risotto or hard-pressed cheeses, while preserving the balance between the richness of the dish and the wine’s freshness.
Thanks to its Grand Cru status and the appellation’s renowned style, an indicative cellaring period of 8 to 15 years may be considered, depending on storage conditions and the desired evolution. Bottles may be opened in their youth for their energy, or kept so that their texture and complexity can gain in harmony.
