Domaine Yvon Clerget

The History of Domaine Clerget

The history of Domaine Yvon Clerget dates back a long time, to 1268, to be precise. It is, in fact, one of the oldest estates in Burgundy. Since 2015, Thibaud has been in charge of managing the estate ; after training in Oregon with the Drouhin family estate as well as with Charles Van Canneyt of Domaine Hudelot Noellat. Under Thibaud, the estate continues to prosper, combining traditional winemaking methods with modern techniques to offer exceptional wines.

Viticulture and Winemaking: The Estate’s Philosophy

At Domaine Yvon Clerget, the emphasis is on sustainable viticulture and meticulous vineyard management to ensure the quality of the grapes. The estate practices organic farming, although it is not certified, while focusing on minimal intervention and respect for the natural environment. In the cellar, Thibaud uses indigenous yeasts to start the fermentations. The wines are then aged in oak barrels for several months. This approach allows for the purest expression of each terroir.

The Wines of Domaine Clerget

Domaine Yvon Clerget produces mainly red wines but also two white wines: a superb Bourgogne Aligoté « En Coulezain » and the famous Meursault 'Les Chevalières'. The wines are almost all located on the Côte de Beaune, where you will find several prestigious appellations such as Volnay 1er Cru 'Clos du Verseuil' Monopole, and also Pommard 'Les Rugiens'. Only one appellation is an exception, located in Côte de Nuits : Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 'Grand Maupertuis'.
