Camille Thiriet and Matt Chittick: the birth of an artisanal Burgundian house in Corgoloin
Domaine Camille Thiriet was born in 2016 from a chance meeting and a shared dream. Camille Thiriet, a Burgundian by adoption, and Matt Chittick, a Canadian-born cellar master, met at Domaine de Bellene, where Matt served as cellar master and Camille as sales manager. Drawing on this experience, they took the leap with both ambition and humility. In 2021, they managed to acquire 0.80 ha of Côte de Nuits-Villages vines known as "Le Clos Magny," today the estate's highest parcel, at nearly 320 meters in altitude. Domaine Camille Thiriet now spans 6 hectares, spread across several appellations of Burgundy and the Côte de Nuits: Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne Blanc, Rosay (Gamay Rosé), Bourgogne Rouge, Côte de Nuits-Villages Blanc, and Côte de Nuits-Villages Rouge.
Uncompromising winemaking, staying true to the grape and the terroir
At Camille Thiriet, everything is done with a constant care not to mask the terroir. Every step is designed to respect the fruit and the expression of place: gentle pump-overs, an infusion-style approach, and particular attention paid to sorting the harvest. To enrich this vision, the wines are vinified as single-parcel cuvées.
The house's philosophy is not built around labels such as organic, biodynamic, or conventional farming, but rather on respect for sound winegrowing practices and a free, responsible, and honest approach. Certain parcels are worked with a horse, a gentle method that respects the soil.
Discreet, limited-production appellations, from Burgundy to the Jura
The range at Domaine Camille Thiriet explores still-discreet appellations. Among the whites, the lineup includes crisp, vibrant Bourgogne Aligoté and Chardonnay, a Côte de Nuits-Villages "La Montagne," from a tiny 0.19-hectare parcel, and a Côte du Jura made from the Savagnin grape, ouillé-style and aged for 10 months in demi-muid barrels, a nod to the Jura roots of traditional winemaking, broadening the estate's palette beyond Burgundy alone. Among the reds, the range comprises 3 distinctive Bourgogne Rouges and 6 Côte de Nuits-Villages, including a 0.60-hectare monopole, La Robignotte.
Extremely limited productions, made in tiny quantities, yielding authentic wines that are deeply expressive of their Burgundian terroir.
