Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay

The History of Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay

The Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay is a family estate located in Chassagne-Montrachet, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 1989 by Philippe Coffinet and Laura Duvernay, heirs to winemaking expertise passed down through several generations, they are now joined by their son Bastien. The estate currently farms around 7 hectares of vineyards spread across some of the finest terroirs of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. The Coffinet-Duvernay estate has gradually established itself as a reliable reference for lovers of great Burgundy white wines, recognized for their precision and elegance.

Viticulture and Winemaking: The Estate Philosophy

In the vineyard, the estate practices sustainable viticulture, with meticulous soil work and particular attention paid to grape quality. Harvesting is carried out by hand, allowing for rigorous selection of the grape clusters.

In the cellar, winemaking aims to preserve the expression of terroir: fermentations occur naturally, and the white wines benefit from aging in French oak barrels, with a moderate proportion of new oak in order to maintain the balance and tension of the wines. This approach produces wines with a mineral, structured, and complex profile, typical of the great Chardonnay of the Côte de Beaune.

The Wines of Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay

The estate mainly produces white wines from Chardonnay, notably from the appellations Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and several Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru vineyards. These wines stand out for their aromatic purity and beautiful length on the palate.

The estate also produces a small number of Chassagne-Montrachet red wines from Pinot Noir, offering elegant, supple, and generous wines. The entire production faithfully reflects the diversity of the terroirs of the Côte de Beaune.
