It all began in 1880 when Joseph Drouhin, then only 22 years old, acquired his first vineyards and founded his own estate. A visionary, he quickly expanded the Maison by investing in prestigious plots, notably in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune, and the Côte Chalonnaise. The acquisition of the renowned "Clos des Mouches" in Beaune marked a decisive turning point and became one of the Maison's crown jewels.
This strategic expansion enabled Joseph Drouhin to establish an exceptional winegrowing heritage, reflecting the richness and diversity of Burgundy's terroirs. Today, the Maison spans 93 hectares, making it one of the largest and most prestigious estates in Burgundy.
