Domaine Mugneret Gibourg

The History of Mugneret Gibourg Estate

The Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg, located in Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy, is a family-run wine estate founded in the 1930s by André Mugneret and his wife Jeanne Gibourg. Their son, Georges Mugneret, later took over the estate.

He expanded the domaine by acquiring prestigious parcels, notably in Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, Ruchottes-Chambertin, and Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru.

After Georges's untimely death in 1988, his wife Jacqueline, together with their daughters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée, continued the family legacy. Marie-Christine, originally a pharmacist, and Marie-Andrée, a graduate in oenology, combined their skills to uphold the domaine's winemaking tradition.

Viticulture and Winemaking : The Estate's Philosophy

The domaine, which spans just over 8 hectares and produces between 20,000 and 30,000 bottles depending on the vintage, follows a sustainable viticulture approach, prioritizing respect for the terroir and the environment. The soils are worked through plowing, allowing the vines to root deeply and fully express the characteristics of each parcel.

Harvesting is done by hand, with a meticulous sorting of the grapes.Vinification is traditional, and the wines are aged in oak barrels for 18 months, followed by bottling without fining or filtration, thus ensuring the purity and authenticity of the wines.

The Wine of Domaine Mugneret Gibourg

The domaine produces a diverse range of wines, showcasing the richness and subtlety of Burgundy's terroirs. Among the iconic cuvées is Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru “Feusselottes”, distinguished by its delicacy and aromas of red fruits and roses, perfectly illustrating the finesse of this appellation. Vosne-Romanée, on the other hand, is a refined wine marked by floral notes and silky tannins, offering timeless elegance.

The domaine’s Grands Crus embody excellence, notably Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru, renowned for its depth and aromatic complexity, and Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, a powerful and harmonious wine that perfectly reflects the grandeur of its terroir. These cuvées, crafted primarily from Pinot Noir, offer a rich and precise aromatic palette, with exceptional aging potential.
