Founded in the early 20th century by Armand Rousseau, this family estate quickly established itself as one of the essential references among Burgundy's Grands Crus. As early as the 1920s, Armand Rousseau demonstrated exceptional foresight by acquiring plots in prestigious climates such as Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze.
Under the leadership of Charles Rousseau, his son, the estate gained international recognition in the 1950s, captivating wine enthusiasts and collectors of rare wines worldwide.
Today, Éric Rousseau and his daughter Cyrielle, continue this quest for excellence while incorporating modern practices to preserve the estate's exceptional heritage.
Viticulture and Winemaking : The Estate's Philosophy
At Domaine Armand Rousseau, each plot is cultivated with precision to enhance the unique characteristics of the Burgundy terroir.
The 15 hectares of vines, 8 of which are classified as Grands Crus, are exclusively planted with Pinot Noir, the king grape variety of Burgundy. Viticulture is carried out with respect for the soil.
The winemaking process, guided by a low-intervention philosophy, aims to preserve the purity and authenticity of the fruit. Fermentations take place in open vats, with full destemming, followed by meticulous aging in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of which are new for the Grands Crus. Every step is designed to reveal the finesse, elegance, and aging potential of the wines.
