- Bourgogne - Côte de Beaune
The Domaine Georges Roumier, located in Chambolle-Musigny at the heart of the Côte de Nuits, is a true institution in the world of Burgundy's finest wines. Founded in 1924, the estate has spanned generations while preserving artisanal expertise and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
The story begins when Georges Roumier marries Geneviève Quanquin, whose family owns vineyards in Burgundy. He takes charge of these parcels and initiates the estate’s growth. After his passing in 1965, his son Jean-Marie Roumier continues his work before handing over the reins in 1992 to his son Christophe Roumier, genius winemaker and an iconic figure in the Burgundy wine scene.
Today, Domaine Georges Roumier is a benchmark in the production of exceptional red wines, particularly in Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis.
Domaine Roumier follows an environmentally respectful approach, embracing sustainable and reasoned viticulture.
The vineyards are cultivated without pesticides or chemical herbicides, fostering natural biodiversity. Harvesting is done manually, ensuring meticulous grape selection to preserve the wines’ aromatic purity.
In the cellar, natural winemaking relies on fermentations using indigenous yeasts, allowing for an authentic expression of the terroir. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, with a variable proportion of new wood depending on the cuvée, to maintain the wines' balance and elegance.
This philosophy gives the wines of Domaine Georges Roumier a unique signature, combining power, finesse, and aromatic depth.
The estate covers approximately 12 hectares, with parcels in some of Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations. Among the most sought-after cuvées by wine enthusiasts and collectors are:
• Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru "Les Amoureuses" – A wine of rare elegance, with aromas of red fruits and spices, offering a silky and intense palate.
• Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru – Powerful and structured, this legendary Grand Cru is built for aging, developing complex notes of dark fruits, licorice, and forest floor.
• Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru – The estate’s only white cuvée, this wine boasts exceptional aromatic richness, with notes of citrus, dried fruits, and remarkable minerality.
