The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, often abbreviated as DRC, is one of the most prestigious wine estates in the world, located in Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. Its history dates back to the 13th century, when the Abbey of Saint-Vivant acquired vineyard parcels, including the one that would later become Romanée-Conti.
In the 18th century, the Prince of Conti purchased the vineyard, giving it its current name. After the French Revolution, the estate changed hands several times until it was acquired in 1869 by Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet, an ancestor of the de Villaine and Leroy families, its current owners.
The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is renowned for its rigorous and respectful approach to viticulture. The vines are cultivated with particular attention to biodiversity and soil health.
The quality of the team, composed of dedicated men and women, is essential. Their guiding principles are rigor, attention to detail, mastery of practices, meticulousness, patience, and, perhaps above all, humility.
The estate produces some of the most sought-after and expensive wines in the world. Among the most famous crus are:
Romanée-Conti Grand Cru: Considered the pinnacle of Pinot Noir, this wine is renowned for its purity and elegance, with exceptional aging potential.
La Tâche Grand Cru: A powerful and complex wine, also a monopole of the estate, celebrated for its depth and longevity.
Richebourg Grand Cru: With a solid structure and aromatic richness, this wine is one of the estate's treasures.
Montrachet Grand Cru: The estate's only commercialized white wine (the domain also owns Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru), regarded as one of the greatest expressions of Chardonnay, offering unparalleled complexity and finesse.
Each wine from the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is a faithful reflection of its terroir, crafted with artisanal precision and an unwavering passion for excellence. These wines embody the very essence of Burgundy, celebrating the diversity and richness of this exceptional wine region.
