However, there is diversity among these soils depending on whether they are located in the northern part of the appellation or further south. In the first case, the soils are more stony, while in the south, they contain more clay. The climate of the appellation is continental, and the vineyard is oriented towards the east and southwest.
Wine Caracteristics
The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation produces red wines made from the Pinot Noir grape variety and white wines from Chardonnay. The red wines have a dark color in their youth, with a nose featuring aromas of cherry and blackcurrant. As they mature, the bouquet develops and often offers notes of truffle, leather, and game. These are full-bodied wines with a balanced structure, revealing their potential after a few years of aging.
The white wines, produced in small quantities, are recognizable by their white flower aromas and their lovely golden color.
