Based in Trépail, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, Domaine Carré Frères was founded in 2019 by brothers Édouard and Victor Carré. Their project brings together two family legacies: the Trépail vineyard handed down by their father, Vincent Carré, and the Verzy vines from their mother, Anne-Sophie Carré (née Deville). The two brothers thus continue a family story while developing wines that carry their own identity.
The estate now covers 25 hectares across three terroirs: 16 hectares in Trépail Premier Cru, 6 hectares in Verzy Grand Cru and 3 hectares in the Côte des Bar, in the villages of Essoyes, Loches-sur-Ource and Les Riceys. Trépail, facing south-east, is associated by the estate with finesse, richness and length, while Verzy, facing north, brings structure and depth.
At Carré Frères, the work begins with close attention to the vines, the soils and the health of each parcel. Édouard and Victor adapt their work to the conditions of the year and the climate, with the aim of selecting only grapes that show the desired quality and ripeness.
In the cellar, the wines are vinified exclusively in oak, with 50% new barrels for each cuvée. For the two brothers, oak supports the expression of terroir while adding structure and complexity. The estate thus builds each cuvée around a single parcel, a single grape variety and a single vintage, in order to highlight the distinct identity of each terroir.
The wines of Carré Frères are conceived as single-parcel and vintage expressions. Not every cuvée is therefore produced every year: Édouard and Victor adapt their selection to what the vines give them. This approach highlights the distinct identity of each place rather than seeking an identical style from one year to the next.
Our selection lets you discover two of the estate's key terroirs: Trépail Premier Cru and Verzy Grand Cru. In Trépail Premier Cru, Le Champ Jeanvrai, a Blanc de Blancs, showcases Chardonnay, while Les Hauts Bouitais, also from Trépail, is crafted as a white Coteaux Champenois.
In Verzy Grand Cru, Les Blanches Maladries completes this selection with another expression of the Montagne de Reims. Through these three cuvées, Carré Frères highlights the diversity of its parcels and two villages with distinct identities: Trépail and Verzy.
