Domaine Marchand-Tawse

The History of Domaine Marchand-Tawse

The Domaine Marchand-Tawse was born from the partnership between Burgundy winemaker Pascal Marchand and Canadian entrepreneur Moray Tawse. With its first vintage produced in 2010 and based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the estate reflects a commitment to producing Burgundy wines that are precise and authentic, sourced from prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Drawing on Pascal Marchand’s experience as former estate manager of renowned Burgundy domaines, the estate quickly established itself as a reference for lovers of elegant wines true to their terroir. Today, the estate farms approximately 7.5 hectares of its own vineyards, complemented by a high-end négociant activity focused on emblematic appellations of the region.

Viticulture and Winemaking: The Estate Philosophy

The estate manages its vineyards under organic and biodynamic farming, with organic certification obtained from the earliest vintages. The objective is to preserve the pure expression of Burgundy climats through respectful vineyard work and careful soil management. Harvesting is carried out manually to ensure rigorous grape selection.

In the cellar, winemaking follows a low-intervention approach: fermentations with indigenous yeasts, gentle extraction for red wines, and carefully controlled aging in French oak barrels to preserve the wine’s balance. This philosophy produces wines combining finesse, freshness, and aromatic depth, hallmarks of the Marchand-Tawse style.

The Wines of Domaine Marchand-Tawse

The estate mainly produces wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, sourced from prestigious appellations such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Beaune, and Corton. The red wines stand out for their silky texture, aromatic precision, and great aging potential, while the white wines offer beautiful mineral tension and elegant complexity. The entire range reflects a faithful interpretation of Burgundy terroirs, combining tradition with contemporary precision.
