Buzzo Bunifazziu

The Story of Domaine Buzzo Bunifazziu

For the Buzzo family, winemaking is above all a family story. It was Thierry, the son of Vincent Buzzo, who launched the estate in 2010 on the family lands near Cala Longa and Sant’Amanza, at the southern tip of Corsica. Yet the viticultural history of these lands goes back much further: numerous wine presses carved into the limestone rock, dating back more than eight centuries, have been discovered on these very plots, bearing witness to the flourishing vine culture in Bonifacio when the town was a Genoese colony. A heritage that gives each bottle remarkable depth.

Viticulture and Winemaking: The Estate’s Philosophy

Thierry and Vincent let the terroir express itself in its purest authenticity. Cultivating their vineyards with the utmost respect for nature through an organic approach, they use no chemical fertilizers and apply phytotherapy to the vines, thereby avoiding the use of oenological additives. The strong maritime influence on this clay-limestone plateau gives the wines a unique minerality and typicity. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand in small crates, and vinification favors low temperatures to preserve the freshness and aromatic expression of the island grape varieties.

The Wines of Domaine Buzzo Bunifazziu

The estate offers a range of cuvées deeply connected to their terroir of origin: each wine takes its name from the specific plot from which it comes. The red Cian di Fossi, made from Minustellu, is a structured wine with fine, silky tannins and beautiful salinity. The red Ciafara, a blend of Niellucciu and Sciaccarellu, stands out for its airy character and remarkable suppleness, while the white Rocca Gianca, a barrel-aged Vermentinu, expresses a rich floral minerality. Finally, the white Biginti, made from Barbarossa, reveals notes of white flowers and honeydew with a lovely roundness.
