Roc Breïa is a project initiated by Théo Dancer. Son of the renowned winemaker Vincent Dancer, known for his expertise in crafting white wines, Théo took over the family business in 2020.
In 2021, Théo decided to launch a small négoce activity and a new project in Mâconnais : Roc Breïa with some vines located in Bray. His ambition is to produce exceptional wines by showcasing a completely new version of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape varieties of Burgundy.
Roc Breïa encompasses 10 hectares of vines dating back to the 1950s-1970s. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soils, with approximately 3 hectares of Chardonnay and 7 hectares of Pinot Noir. Of course the climate from Mâconnais differs from the one of Chassagne-Montrachet, particularly because grape ripening occurs later. In terms of winemaking, Théo aims to let the terroir express itself as much as possible in the wines. Therefore, he limits the use of additives, carefully selects the grapes, and only adds a small amount of sulfur at bottling.
The wines from Roc Breïa have already been praised for their quality and potential, but they are especially distinguished by their remarkable elegance. The Chardonnay cuvée is characterized by his freshness while Pinot Noir cuvée is so fruity ! Don’t be late to try them !
