Domaine A.F. Gros: a family history at the heart of Burgundy's greatest terroirs

The Domaine A.F. Gros was born in 1988 from the union of two Burgundian lineages: Anne-Françoise Gros, descended from the Gros family whose estate had been divided into three by Louis Gros in the 1970s, and François Parent, originally from Pommard. Together, they combined their parcels to build a vineyard of around 10 hectares between Pommard and Vosne-Romanée, and forged a worldwide reputation around deep, elegant Pinot Noirs built to age.

Today, two of their three children, Caroline and Mathias Parent, are taking over the reins of the estate after training alongside their parents since 2013.

In the vineyard: a family standard of excellence, a vision that renews itself

The estate is planted mainly with Pinot Noir, the signature grape of Burgundy, along with a portion of Gamay. François Parent and his son Mathias pay particular attention to vine management, practicing integrated pest management and respecting sustainable farming principles. The hand-picked harvest is preceded by selective pruning and green harvesting, in order to optimize the vine's yield and vigor.

Since joining the estate, Mathias and Caroline have been bringing their own vision to it. Mathias, who oversees the vineyard, winemaking, and aging, is driving numerous experiments: the gradual introduction of whole-cluster fermentation (up to 50% for the Échezeaux), a reduced proportion of new oak barrels to let the terroir speak more clearly, and a meticulous double sorting at harvest. Aging lasts 14 months for the regional appellations and 18 months for the Grands Crus. In 2022, he created the "Signature" cuvée under the Vin de France designation, a personal project reflecting his creative freedom.

From Richebourg to Pommard: a range of red wines among the most prestigious in the Côte d'Or

The estate's range covers some of Burgundy's most prestigious appellations: Richebourg Grand Cru, Échezeaux Grand Cru, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe au Moine, Chambolle-Musigny, Pommard 1er Cru Les Arvelets, Beaune 1er Cru Les Boucherottes and Les Montrevenots (the estate's only white wine, made from Chardonnay), as well as a Moulin-à-Vent from Beaujolais acquired in 2017. Red wines of great finesse, carried forward by the rising signature style of Mathias Parent.
