Domaine Clair Bruno

History and Terroir

The Clair family has been producing wine since the early 19th century. Joseph Clair (1889-1971), who founded the Clair-Daü estate in Marsannay-la-Côte in 1920, was an important figure in Burgundy viticulture.

Bruno Clair gave his name to the current estate in 1979, representing the sixth generation of winemakers.

Today, the estate covers 27 hectares spread across eight villages, encompassing 32 appellations in Burgundy, allowing it to express a wide variety of terroirs.

Viticulture and Winemaking – The Estate's Philosophy

The Bruno Clair estate emphasizes respect for the terroirs and the expression of Burgundy's noble grape varieties, mainly Pinot Noir for reds and Chardonnay for whites.

Family viticulture, manual harvesting, traditional methods, and great care in winemaking are at the heart of their approach. The estate attaches great importance to soil quality and precision in winemaking so that each appellation reveals its unique characteristics.

The Estate's Wines

The Bruno Clair Estate produces a wide range of wines from 32 appellations in Burgundy. Among the most iconic vintages are:

Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru – a powerful, structured wine with fine tannins and excellent aging potential.

Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru – one of the most prestigious appellations in the Côte de Nuits, renowned for its intensity and aromatic complexity.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques – considered one of the greatest Premiers Crus in Burgundy, with remarkable finesse and elegance.

In addition to these prestigious appellations, there are wines from Marsannay-la-Côte, the birthplace of the Clair family, as well as numerous cuvées from the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The red wines made from Pinot Noir are renowned for their depth and aging potential, while the white wines (Chardonnay) seduce with their freshness and minerality.
